This image depicts three faces of the same man in distress, while apocalyptic imagery from the book of Revelations swirls around him. His flesh morphs and warps under the stress of the crisis point, and a sand timer is seen running out of time, while the horsemen and “beasts” from the book of Revelations suggest that judgment is looming as time runs out.
The original painting was part of a diptych and was 6×6 feet in dimension, a very large canvas. After an exhibition in Mississippi, the canvas was never returned and has not been found since.
