Inspiration: This piece is part of a 2018 series of collages drawing inspiration from the universal elements of light, water, air and earth. In “Light Years Apart,” there are three types of light: the candle (flame), the light by the doorway (man-made light), and the celestial lights in the sky. The trinity of light sources illuminates a hand by the candle, a hand in the sky, a face in the sky, and a woman sitting in the shadows of the lit building. Many other subtle images are embedded in this collage and reveal the complex journey of the individual navigating mortality, loss and time.
