Inspiration: This piece is part of a 2018 series of collages drawing inspiration from the universal elements of light, water, air and earth. In “Troubled Water,” human forms and fish forms swirl together, fighting captivity and death -seeking freedom and life. An arm reaches out toward the wounded fish in the bottom right corner, a figure struggles against the net in the center of the image, and a figure escapes atop the wave. Many other metaphorical forms are layered throughout this evocative composition, representative of the difficulty of sorting through all the complexities, stresses and tough circumstances of life.
