This image is a postmodern interpretation of The Last Supper. Featuring 12 people and no “master,” the feast is a combination of raw and cooked meat products. Men, women and children are featured at the table, and a cow’s portrait has been split in half to decorate the left and right walls as chandeliers hang from the ceiling in an ornate room with red and burgundy tones. The lack of a literal title suggests that this piece is open to a wide range of interpretation. Is the diversity at the table reminiscent of a new era? Is this the last supper of meat on the brink of a vegetarian or vegan diet (note that a man takes a shot of milk at right, including dairy products with the meat)? Or, is this just a dramatic table setting with no meaning at all? Who is happy or moody at the table? What is the man reading about in the center? You decide…
