Outside the Fence: original handmade artwork using tiny bits of upcycled cut paper, by Rachel Dolezal.
Original art is made from upcycled magazine paper with intricate layers of detail and imagery. Created on a stretched canvas and varnished with a UVL varnish to protect the paper colors from fading with light exposure.
Framed artwork is 12×12″ inner dimensions and 13.5×13.5″ outer frame dimensions. Framed in black wood with gold lining.
Inspiration: This piece is part of a 2018 series of collages drawing inspiration from the universal elements of light/fire, water, air and earth. In “Outside the Fence,” a child sits outside of a fence along a roadway, exposed to the elements and oncoming traffic. Fire is used as an expressive element to convey danger and emotion. Subtle blue hues contrast and add tension to the piece.
