A hand-signed fine art print of “Ground Breaking,” an original handmade collage by Rachel Dolezal.
Original art is made from recycled magazine paper with intricate layers of detail and imagery – the process is unique and very much like “painting” with pieces of paper.
This signed reproduction is a large poster-sized piece, about 24×32″
Inspiration: This piece is part of a 2018 series of collages drawing inspiration from the universal elements of light, water, air and earth. In “Ground Breaking,” two women walk at the horizon line as an earthquake-type disaster begins. A man in the right middle of the composition moves broken ground/soil, as a child splashes in a puddle of water that is formed from a shrinking oceanside, where a container ship sits on the landlocked horizon. Breaking new ground -philosophically, socially and politically- is a messy process that involves destruction of the under-layers of the old ways, which is illustrated through metaphor in this piece of art.
