Signed reproduction of an acrylic painting, “Black Lines,” by Rachel Dolezal. Paying homage to Kandinsky’s painting by the same name though looking nothing like his work, this painting is part of a shift in my work from representational to abstract (as was the case for Kandinsky when he painted Black Lines in 1913). This gallery-wrapped 24×24″ canvas print is varnished by hand and is TWICE the size of the original painting.
This piece shows white and black shapes and lines interacting and mixing into gray in areas, with a warm sense of light and sunshine emanating from below. Is it an optimistic view on the future of race & culture relationships, or just a composition of lines and shapes? You decide.
